Will it be too much money just to fix the motherboard? Will you be able to do it yourself? Is it safe and convenient for you to do it yourself or is it too much trouble? All of these questions and more need to be asked before you make that final decision. With the way that technology is advancing these days, you might just be better off buying a brand new computer to replace the broken one. The money you spend will be less than the cost of repair.

Everyone Uses a Computer Dictionary

The computer dictionary is made by Microsoft and it was used by people who did not want to bring their big old dictionaries with them everywhere and pull that 1000 page book when they needed to look up the word. Then, the internet came about and the computer dictionary became obsolete because everything could be grabbed from the internet. On top of that, you have Word now telling you how to spell out words. So, who needs a computer dictionary anymore? I know that I sure do not. People can access online dictionaries to check their spelling; we do not need this program anymore.

Gateway Computers are Getting Better

Gateway computers used to be one of the worst computers in the world. When, they first started coming out, people would have problems all over the place. The hard drive would crash and power downs the computer for no reason. If you went with the laptop, then that thing would break down on you in about 2 months. If you went with a desktop, then that thing would only last you for about 6 months. They were very cheap to buy though. Now, things are improving and the company is on the rise. No, I am just kidding because all computers get viruses of one sort or another. What you do when these viruses show up is what matters. There are some minor viruses that just slow down processing speed for the computer. But, there are those major viruses that can wipe everything on the computer clean. These are the ones that you need to be aware of. What you have to do is install a firewall. It may cost some money, but it is worth it. You need to protect all of your important data.

In addition check out these WebSites loaded with lots of useful information:

Niche: Get your girlfriend back
Domain: http://hookyourexgirlfriendback.info

Niche: Dating & Nowadays, people fix their own computers all the time. Many people are able to upgrade their computers all by themselves for a pretty good low cost. The reason behind this is that the industry has becomes saturated with so much technology. Parts continue to become cheaper to produce. That means that the consumer gets to pay a lower price because the supply is so high. It is a great accomplishment if you think about it.

I hate Dell Computers

I would say that I hate Dell computers and I would mean it. I have had 3 Dell computers within the last 3 years and they have all died on me. One of them was a laptop where the battery would not last longer than 5 minutes. Another was a problem with the processor; I could not reinstall Windows no matter what I tried. The final straw was the last laptop I had with Dell. It would require a reformat of the system every 2 days. That was just ridiculous. I switched over to Toshiba and have found that it is much easier to manage.

Computers 747 - New Line of Mac Computers Could Be Unveiled Today

Computers 747 - The Apple Store has been down for a good part of today, which has further fueled rumors that Apple will release its new line of computers today.

Rumors have circulated for months about when the industry titan will release its completely redesigned line of Mac computers. The fact that the store is down temporarily for maintenance is a strong indication it could be today.

When the store is down, it either means Apple is adding new products or they are doing routine maintenance. The latter is unlikely, considering routine maintenance is usually performed late at night.

The release would be right in time for holiday shopping. These micro computers are the smallest, lightest, and often the cheapest forms of mobile PCs.

Mini laptops have changed drastically over the last few years. Whereas small laptops used to cost around $3,000 and weigh 3-5 pounds, today's mini laptops can be purchased for about $500 and weigh less than 3 pounds.

Most mini laptops come with built-in webcams, which is a convenient feature. They also come with Wi-Fi connectivity, which is a must for travelers.

On the down side, none of the affordably priced mini laptops have CD or DVD drives. Read on for four ways your work computer could get you fired.

First, be careful about your blogs. Some companies prohibit employees from writing for outlets that are not sanctioned. Second, don't play games.

The mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, saw a solitaire screen on a city employee's computer screen once and fired him on the spot.

Third, avoid looking at, downloading, or uploading offensive content and pictures. Finally, stay off social networking sites and be careful what pictures you post to your social network page. Employers often look at employees' sites.

Computers 747 - Computers Can Detect Card Counters in Casinos

Computers 747 - Vegas card counters have met their match. Now, casinos have computers and cameras that are equipped to spot counters within 20 hands.

The computer measures the patterns present in the game of Blackjack and then detects if the player is making higher bets when the cards left in the deck are favorable. The computer will alert hotel security, who will then throw you out.

Some Vegas high rollers are irked at the computer technology, as card counting is not illegal. However, most casinos will ask players whom they suspect are counting cards to leave.

The new technology is not out yet, but it will soon arrive in major gambling towns like Las Vegas and Atlantic City.

Computers 747 - Windows 7 Pros and Cons

Computers 747 - We all remember what a disaster Windows Vista was, but Windows 7 promises to be much different. Read on for the pros and cons of the new OS.

Although Windows 7 has many of the same requirements as Vista, the new systems run much faster. As a result 7's boot time takes significantly less.

The interface is also more visually appealing and has a much less annoying user notification system. On the down side, the control panel lacks a classic view option.

Some users may not appreciate that the various gadgets are turned off by default on the screen. This makes them harder to access.

Registry Cleaners

You don't really need a Registry Cleaner...The very best program you can use is:

http://www.revouninstaller.com/

http://www.revouninstaller.com/

This program will completely uninstall the program you want uninstalled and then will scan the registry for left-over files and folders. However, the sad fact is that most of these registry tools are actually a complete waste of time, because they'll end up doing a lot more harm than good to your PC.

This is the case because the registry is the central database for Windows. It contains everything from your desktop wallpaper to your Internet favorites, and everything in between. It's extremely important and is constantly being accessed by your system, where it adds and updates all of its files for you. Unfortunately, many of these files actually become corrupted or even lost whilst Windows is transferring them, which slows your computer down and can cause other problems.

Luckily, though, there is a tool which can help us. Registry cleaners have been developed to search your entire registry and then remove any of the problematic files that it might find. However, some of them will do a lot more damage than good because they simply delete ALL files they find. The registry is home to a lot of system files, which are vital for your computer to keep running smoothly. If your registry cleaner deletes them, then you'll end up having no computer to fix at all, because it will just break completely.

So in our opinion, the most effective registry cleaner of 2009 has to be one called "RegCure". This is a very popular registry cleaner, with over 60 million downloads to its name, which has been specifically updated and designed for the new problems that are arising in 2009. Because of its unique features and revolutionary scanning engine, this registry cleaner allows you to scan your entire registry faster & easier & safer than any other registry cleaner out there.

Why Buy A Cheap Laptop

There are several reasons to buy cheap laptops. People with small budgets might find brand new laptops above their purchasing power. It also does not make sense to buy a new expensive laptop for your child who may break it easily with abrupt handling. Many companies also procure cheap laptops for their workers in order to cut operating costs. Cheap does not mean inferior.

The only word of caution here is that you need to be patient and search out cheap but good ones from any online stores that sell cheap laptops. The first step is to determine your requirement and accordingly search the internet . Online stores can also help you in your search for particular brands and models. Be careful not to buy anything that is offered at ludicrously low prices. It would be very painful if you are forced to change parts frequently or live with the defects of your laptop. Many dirt cheap offers hide the fact that some accessories are removed from the original package in order to make it inexpensive.

You can find very good offers when an online store is holding a sale. Bigger stores, which purchase laptops in bulk, are more trustworthy. Make sure that the laptop computer you are about to buy have all the essential programs and capabilities that you require. Refurbished and used laptops are also cheaper alternatives. Sometimes the manufacturers themselves push the outdated laptops in their inventory into the cheap market at ground level prices. These also would serve you well without burning a hole in your pocket.

Computer Forensics

Berryhill Computer Forensics has a proven track record of excellence in electronic evidence recovery, analysis and expert testimony. We work for attorneys, investigators, litigation support firms, law enforcement, government agencies, and corporate security/human resources in both civil and criminal proceedings. In many cases, the computer forensic evidence we discovered has provided the crucial evidence needed for a successful outcome. Often, solid computer evidence has been instrumental in bringing about a swift conclusion to the case. Many cases settle out of court once the computer evidence is presented.

Contact us for a list of references.

Choosing a Computer Forensics Specialist

When you require the services of a computer forensics specialist, don't be afraid to shop around. There are an increasing number of people who claim to be experts in the field. Look very carefully at the level of experience of the individuals involved (not just the company). There is far more to proper computer forensic analysis than the ability to retrieve data, especially when a case could go to court.

The bottom line is you will be retaining the services of an individual who will likely be called to testify in court to explain what he or she did to the computer and its data. The court will want to hear that individual's own level of training and experience, not the experience of their employer. The experience should be specifically in computer forensics, not only in computer science, as skill with computers does not necessarily translate to forensic expertise. Make sure you find someone who not only has the expertise and experience, but someone who will stand up to the scrutiny and pressure of cross examination. Talk to references who have seen the individual testifying in court and/or depositions.

What is Computer Forensics?

Computer Forensics is the collection, preservation, analysis, and presentation of computer-related evidence. Computer evidence can be useful in criminal cases, civil disputes, and human resources/employment proceedings.

Far more information is retained on a computer than most people realize. It's also more difficult to completely remove information than is generally thought. For these reasons (and many more), computer forensics can often find evidence of, or even completely recover, lost or deleted information, even if it was intentionally deleted.

Computer Chips

Computer chip technology is in all sorts of everyday items, from space shuttles to coffee makers, traffic lights, and computers. A basic rule of thumb is, if a device uses electricity and you can "tell it what to do" by programming it or customizing it, there's a chip inside.

Chips perform various tasks by design, meaning that some are more complex than others. The most sophisticated chip is a microprocessor, whose transistors can execute hundreds of millions of instructions per second.

A microprocessor is the most complex manufactured product on earth. Malwares are also known by the following names; malicious codes, malicious programs or malicious software. The most popular categories are Trojan Horses, viruses, adwares, spyware, root kits, worms and so on. Malwares can cause serious havoc to your computer system if you do not protect yourself against them.

In the past it was not easy to install malware on your personal machine because physical access will be required, such as physically installing them through a floppy disk onto your system, but with the widespread of internet, it is almost as easy as sitting in front of your system the means these malwares are installed on your computer.

Hackers use different means of propagating these dangerous codes through the internet such as using email attachments or active x control on web pages to install these malicious programs on your computer. It is your responsibility to make sure your computer is well protected because you will have yourself to be blamed if you leave it too late. So how do you protect yourself?

There are many ways to protect yourself; one of the many ways is to educate yourself very well about these malwares because it would be inappropriate to be applying security software against a virus when you have a Trojan horse on your system. So, a very good user education is vital in fighting against malwares.

Operating system security fixes and program patches are very important as well, so make sure you keep your operating system up to date. Whenever a software vendor releases a new fix or patch it could mean they have found a new flaw in their software, installing these patches will make your computer to be less vulnerable to malware attack.

If you run a Windows Operating system, your are more likely to be attacked than if you run any other operating system, so make sure you install spyware removal tool and antivirus software that updates its database very often so it can defend you against new virus attack, and without a doubt all Windows Operating System security fixes should be applied.

Be proactive, create a backup on your machine and create restore point often so that you can easily restore or roll back to a previous state when your machine was at its optimum performance.

Stop wasting time and money, click here for best computer security softwares and tools. Sure the laptop is far from cutting edge technology but I do remember a day when it performed quite well and I have been reluctant to upgrade it because of the hope that one day it will be returned to it's former glory.

When I say I thought there was a problem or two I could not have been further from the truth. Try two thousand, eight hundred and fifty six problems! This was certainly a surprise to me and no wonder the poor old girl was having a hard time processing my requests. All of these errors where found after running a free registry scan and I am happy to report that even though my coffee making is not that slow the computer now beats me every morning without fail.

So where do these registry errors come from? I can only surmise that as the trusty laptop is used for mainly internet related chores that the majority of the errors came about from downloading programs and on occasion removing programs. I am also informed that registry errors can be the result of poorly written programs, they can also be deliberately written into programs by lovely people trying to ruin your day and also that removing programs by the conventional methods can leave files behind that are now defunct and can cause issues in the registry.

After running the scan I decided that something definitely needed to be done and I let the registry repair program do it's magic and as I said things have improved out of sight. If you feel that your computer system is not it's usual self and perhaps it is suffering from unexplained crashes or you are getting error messages more often than you get email I suggest you take a look at the program that I used to turn an old ailing laptop into a turbo charged pocket rocket! I am sure you will be surprised with the results.

Don't take my word for it, try the Free System Scan and see what a registry cleaner program can do for your system. Suffer no longer and visit http://triedntested.info/archives/30 for the complete solution to optimizing your pc's performance!

Article Source:

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://computers747.com/2008/03/computer-running-slow-take-computer.html' title='Computer Running Slow? Applistructure has to do with the convention of combining enterprise infrastructure and enterprise business applications. Service-oriented architecture (SOA) refers to a web centric / web focused approach to technology. According to the "SOA and Application Infrastructure" article by Mike Rosen, this applistructure trend was hot a couple of years ago. Can you relax? Or, as Mr. Rosen suggests, can you take comfort in knowing that solving management and business process issues are more critical to enterprise success than the actual technology?

I attended the Atlanta AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association) February 2008 meeting. The speaker, Mr. Joe Capps talked about the subject of moving to enterprise level systems and procurement processes. Instead of haphazardly developing technology in an "after the fact" manner, he advocated a more proactive approach - as in developing a strategy to move toward enterprise infrastructure, enterprise business applications and enterprise technology in general.

Additionally, a key imperative of the Department of Defense (DoD) is to change and accelerate the requirement to solution process. What's known as Moore's Law (based on Gordon Moore's predictions about semiconductors), says that technology is rapidly changing. Probably about every 18 months. Where there is a need for the latest technology, Moore's Law has financial, logistical and feasibility implications. The government and the DoD are known for red tape and cumbersome processes. But our country's ability to respond to immediate threats requires current, accurate information delivered to those needing it in a timely fashion. He suggested the criticality of providing our war fighters with decision making data on how to even respond to five guys running down a street in Iraq. Wow!

Moore's Law has implications in the private sector as well. Large scale technology projects often take 18 months or more to implement. That time is in addition to the time required to budget for, select and procure the software, hardware, and implementation partners. While ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), CRM (Customer Relationship Management), MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and the like, may not be obsolete, there are sure to be upgrades, patches (corrections and fixes to software problems) and new feature by the time the system is finally rolled out.

Intel's new Atom processor

Intel's new Atom processor
from Mobile Technology (667 articles)
A-A+ Intel's new Atom processor

Image Gallery ( 2 images ) March 3, 2008 Recognizing that personal computing is increasingly going mobile and that the computer industry is rapidly developing new classes of products to connect the next billion people to the Internet, Intel have announced the Intel Atom processor - a new family of low-power processors designed specifically for mobile Internet devices (MIDs) and a new class of simple and affordable Internet-centric computers arriving later this year. The company also announced the Intel Centrino Atom processor technology for MID platforms, consisting of multiple chips that enable the best Internet experience in a pocketable device.

The Intel Atom processor is based on an entirely new micro-architecture designed specifically for small devices and low power, while maintaining the Intel Core 2 Duo instruction set compatibility consumers are accustomed to when using a standard PC and the Internet. The design also includes support for multiple threads for better performance and increased system responsiveness. All of this on a chip that measures less than 25 mm², making it Intel’s smallest and lowest power processor yet. These new chips, previously codenamed Silverthorne and Diamondville, will be manufactured in Intel’s 45nm process with hi-k metal gate technology. The chips have a thermal design power (TDP) specification in 0.6-2.5 watt range and scale to 1.8GHz speeds depending on customer need. By comparison, today’s mainstream mobile Core 2 Duo processors have a TDP in the 35-watt range. The Intel Centrino Atom processor technology, formerly codenamed “Menlow,” includes the Intel Atom processor, a low-power companion chip with integrated graphics, a wireless radio, and thinner and lighter designs.

In addition to the MID opportunity, Intel believes the demand for a new category of low-cost, Internet-centric mobile computing devices dubbed “netbooks” and basic Internet-centric desktop PCs dubbed “nettops,” will grow substantially over the next several years and the Intel Atom processor is designed to meet the needs of these new market segments. Intel said the Intel Atom processor also has potential for future revenue opportunities in consumer electronic devices, embedded applications and thin clients.

For further info visit Intel.

Australian IT:

Australia’s third-largest internet service provider has announced plans to boost its focus on the “neglected” small business and home office sectors, unveiling a new voice over internet protocol (VoIP) service to diversify from its traditional retail base.

Perth-based iiNet, which last week posted a 34.6 per cent rise in profit to $9.61 million, said adding small business services to its retail base would provide opportunities for revenue growth in the mid-term.

IiNet founder and managing director Michael Malone said the small business sector contributed about 10 per cent to the company’s revenue mix.

“We’re going to start small and ramp up. It will probably be a couple of years before it’s a meaningful contributor financially,” he said.

Mr Malone said that small-business operators’ appetite for more sophisticated telecommunications services had increased significantly.

Over the coming six months, iiNet also plans to roll out video-calling and conferencing services.

These changes iiNet is going through will benefit the people who run their businesses from home by giving them a new option to look at. When most companies offer a new product that’s business based, they’re generally directing it towards medium to large businesses. It’s nice to see a company take a second look at the very important small home business and offer something they can use.

Antivirus Programs and Why You Need Them

Worms, Trojans, and viruses are programs created by hackers and are used to infect at risk computers via the Internet. Worms and viruses can replicate themselves from computer to computer, while Trojans hide in seemingly legitimate programs that you download from the Internet. The list of things that can go wrong with your computer is endless once your computer is infected with a virus, worm, or Trojan. One of the first signs that you are indeed infected is pop up advertisements and a big drop in the performance or speed of your computer.

Antivirus software scans your computer constantly looking for these bad guys, and if found either quarantines the malicious code or deletes it before it can do harm to your computer and data.
Windows XP does not have a built in antivirus. An excellent free antivirus program that you can download from the Internet is AVG. Just Google this acronym for the download site, and you'll be set for a good antivirus tool. An alternative is to go to Microsoft's Antivirus Partners Webpage and see what they recommend. Microsoft also has a free program out called Defender that is supposed to be good protection from viruses and spyware.

Viruses represent a special challenge to detection because of the fact that they change on a daily or sometimes hourly basis. For this reason it is best to choose an antivirus program with an automatic update capability. The updates to the software are to keep abreast of the ever present change seen in the types of viruses found on the Internet. If your antivirus software is not updated your computer becomes vulnerable to these new threats.

To completely cover your bases against these types of threats to your computer, be sure and add a good firewall as well as a anti spyware program to your computer for the best protection.
expert=Gary Riddle
