Better Displays On Laptop Computers Coming Soon!!!

laptop computers
UCLA chemists working diligently have developed a new, inexpensive means of forcing luminescent polymers to give off polarized light and of confining that light to produce polymer-based lasers. In layman's terms it means that consumers will be getting better, brighter laptop screens in the very near future.

The research could lead to a brighter polarized light source for LED's in laptop computers, cell phones, and other consumer electronics devices. The research was conducted by UCLA professors of chemistry and California NanoSystems Institute members.

The researchers have succeeded in taking semi conducting polymers--plastics that consist of long chains of atoms that work as semiconductor--and stretching them out in a glass so that they can have new optical properties. The researchers stated that if you take an inexpensive light source which you could excite the aligned polymer chains and get the chains to reemit, you potentially have a more efficient way to generate polarized light.

This would allow displays to be brighter with less power consumption, and you will then have longer battery life on laptop computers. All of this is good news for consumers and laptop computer manufacturers.

Get The Latest On Apple Computers!!!

apple computers
If you pay attention to the world of Apple computers, you know their iPhone and new line of iPods have been grabbing alot of attention. But recent happenings have brought attention that will recharge their personal computer line. Apple's stock rose on Monday because of an increase in Apple's computer sales and demand.

A reason for demand is because Apple computers are benefiting from lower prices for memory components. Several key components of memory, such as, DRAM and flash are finally falling in price after sharp increases in the past months. These price cuts will only help Apple's computer sales.

In good news for Apple, they are expecting a huge jump in their desktop sales. Recently, Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, unveiled a new line of desktops with screens coming in 20 and 24-inch. This is only good news for Apple who is in a constant battle with PC superpower, Microsoft. With these numbers predicted, Apple will make this battle even tighter.

PC Security Needed to Work from Home

PC Security

These days many employees seek to be working from home. How prepared is your company for this?

As you already know, business must contend with a wide range of both digital and non-digital security issues every day.

Your business might already be accustomed to dealing with security issues for mobile and remote employees and staff. Those employees know the drill: up-to-date anti virus and extra care when using unsecured or public networks, heightened awareness about using computers in public place or anywhere where eyes other than their own can hack, or see, the PC. PC security is all.

But how much planning and policy have you created to circumstances that might result from a substantial number of your employees working from home?

Will the employees be using their home PCs for telecommuting? If so, who else has access to those machines? How protected are those home PCs from the most basic cyber-threats? How will confidential, sensitive and proprietary data be sent from employees' business computers to their home machines? Will workers be taking company equipment to their houses? How certain are you that equipment contains only the materials that the employee needs for specific jobs? How safe and secure is your firm in security procedures, practices, and policies regarding the remote access your business will be dependent on? Are you your workers up to snuff on Virtual Private Network (VPN) security best practices?

The more you think about potential issues, the more issues raise their heads, most of them applicable to day-to-day telecommuting and remote workers as well as to disaster planning, recovery, and continuity of the firm.

Either way, some of the IT security issues mentioned here apply to your business and its ongoing health.
