Hewlett-Packard Looks To Make Printing Even Easier!!!

Hewlett-Packard's latest initiative, christened Print 2.0, is all about making it easier for consumers to get high-quality prints and photo projects at home, online and in retail. First off, the company is making available its HP Smart Web Printing utility, which gives users more precise control when printing content from web pages.

The software also allows users to automatically adjust web content to fit the width of a standard-sized page. The new utility, which will be bundled with all new Photosmart printers, will save paper and ink because users will no longer print clipped pages containing a few lines of text.

The utility also has a Selection mode that allows users to easily select, modify, and arrange content – such as text, images, and graphics – from several web pages and print their selections in any order they want. Another cool feature of the Smart Web Printing utility is that once a custom page has been created, rather than print, users can choose to save it as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file.

The Smart Web Printing only works Internet Explorer 6.0 and higher but a version for Firefox is in the works though the company declined to say when it will be available. Users who already own a HP computer can download the utility at Hewlett-Packard’s website.

HP is also introducing touch-sensitive LCD screens in some of its Photosmart printers because more and more users are bypassing computers and printing directly to printers. This makes it easy for users to just walk up to the printer and print from memory cards or mobile phones.
